Amble councillor takes to the waves

A councillor who suffers from cerebral palsy has taken to a surf board to repay a debt to his local swimming pool.

Robert Arckless, 50, who serves Amble at county, district and town council level, had an accident when he was a toddler in which he suffered a brain haemorrhage and was left with paralysis.

As he has got older, his mobility worsened and he requires crutches to walk.

Amble United hit early high

Amble United are already setting out their championship stall having just failed to gain promotion last term.

United hammered Whitley Bay Town 10-0 to go three points clear at the head of the table with a 100% record in their three games so far.

Goals were scored by Amble United's Darren Riddell (hat-trick), Bradley Wake (2), Shaun Black, Michael Dance, Chris Glass, Chris Moffitt and Paul White.

Amble couple create medieval wedding

A BRIDE and groom and their 500 guests were resplendent in medieval costume for the occasion of their wedding.

Alison Hindhaugh, 39, a teaching assistant at Amble Middle School set her heart on a medieval theme for her marriage to Darren, 41, a cable jointer at NEDL, having witnessed such a ceremony around 10 years ago.

She sent out invitations written on scrolls, summoning guests to attend the marriage of Lord and Lady Hindhaugh.

Teenagers in Amble in Northumberland have recorded some of the best A-level results the area has seen.

A spokesman at Coquet High School in Amble said: "Everybody is happy, everyone seems to have got pretty much what they want.
