Felton First School go to ship repair yard
A SHIP repair yard has opened its doors to youngsters from a rural primary school.
More than 40 children, 14 teachers and parents from Felton First School in Northumberland were welcomed to A&P Tyne offices at Hebburn by managing director Dave Skentelbery.

The visit came after headteacher Barbara Pratt saw an article in The Journal in which Mr Skentelbery, whose yard currently repairs and converts ships, said he hoped to bring shipbuilding back to the River Tyne.
Ms Pratt said: "The children and the parents enjoyed the visit immensely. The youngsters were impressed by the vastness of the ships.
"The company were very good. They made us a school logo out of steel, even put welcome signs up across the site."
Mr Skentlebery said: "We were happy to welcome the school to the yard.
"The teachers wanted to see the past and I wanted to show them the future."
