After getting soaked we dried off to enjoy a very memorable day on Wednesday when the Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh visited Alnwick. I was very lucky to get a good view of them as they got out of their car in front of me. Please click this link to see my photographs: http://www.warkworth.co.uk/Menu.html#RoyalVisit

'Meirion Jones from Warkworth in Canada made contact with Sharon Williams via Warkworth website (www.warkworth.co.uk), as he was travelling to Warkworth UK with his partner Bob Leahy from Friday 13th - Sunday 15th August. Meirion (with the help of John Charlton) is the webmaster for the Warkworth Canada site www.warkworth.ca, which has been linked from Warkworth website for the past three years.
He asked Sharon if she could arrange for them to meet some 'fellow' Warkworthians. Sharon issued invitations to Revd Canon Janet Brearley, members of the Parish Council, The History Society, The Women's Institute, Warkworth in Bloom, Warkworth Flower Show, Warkworth Flower Club, Warkworth Choir, Warkworth Cricket Club and Lionheart Radio and members of the Welcome Information Night and their friends.
As they were staying at the Sun Hotel in Warkworth, Sharon booked the Restaurant with Joanne Middlemas who very kindly agreed to supply a buffet at very short notice.
It was a very interesting and enjoyable event - at the end of the evening Meirion said he would be investigating twinning with Warkworth when he returns to Canada.
Twenty eight people from Warkworth UK attended the event:
